Visited Tempest Book Shop in Waitsfield in search of a trail map. Owner Rick supplied me with a trail map put out by Map Adventures, and recommendations for a less traveled path. The Hedgehog Brook trail is a 2 mile gradual ascent up to the Long Trail, continuing for another .6 mi to a mostly bald summit of Burnt Rock Mtn (3168′) boasting a 360 view of the mad river valley’s surrounding peaks. It was a great recommendation that I would pass on to anyone visiting the area.
